At Gole Road, vegetation clearance has now been completed. The road crossing and ducting for the new 11kV electric cable have been installed, and the gas diversion is in place. We are currently waiting for SGN to carry out the final switch from the old service to the new one. All diversion routes and joint bays have been dug and are ready for the installation of the new services.

On the M3, two gullies have been installed and a pedestrian crossing point has been created on the southern side of the site. The final layer of tarmac will be added once all other works are fully complete. Traffic signal cables have been installed halfway across the road and will be fully connected shortly. Traffic Management in the area has changed slightly with a lane closure now added on the roundabout. The new traffic management plan is available on the M3 webpage. The old pedestrian guard rail has been removed from the southern side, and traffic management was switched last night to allow work to begin on the central reservation and widening section.

16th October 2025

Work has officially begun at M3 Junction 3. Our traffic management team was on site earlier today to begin setting up lane restrictions, with lane 1 now closed on the approach to the roundabout to allow works to progress safely.
The site compound is now in place, and overnight our traffic management contractor will be installing strongwall barriers to secure the area.
Vegetation clearance has started from the roundabout heading east, and this will continue tomorrow within the designated work zone.
Next week, we’ll begin trial holes to locate underground services. This will be followed by road crossings for drainage and traffic signal installation, along with gully works and improvements to the footway.

Works began at the Gole Road / Dawney Hill Junction on 13th October with the installation of traffic management and diversion routes. Vegetation clearance also commenced and is currently progressing slightly ahead of schedule.
Service tracing and trial holes are set to begin later this week to confirm utility locations ahead of joint bay excavations. Once vegetation clearance is complete, excavation of the shared utility trench behind the new road will start, using a combination of mechanical and vacuum excavation methods.

Following the issue of this letter it was agreed to delay the start of the works on the M3 Junction 3 to allow further discussions with councillors, Surrey County Council and National Highways. These conversations have helped us understand the priorities of the community and have informed how the works will be delivered. Following this engagement, it has now been agreed by all parties, that construction at M3 Junction 3 will commence on Thursday 16 October 2025.
