Christmas Elf Quiz

The Christmas Elves have been back in the Central SANG again this year. We hope you had the opportunity take a walk through the woods to see what they have been getting up to.

We held a quiz about the elves and I am pleased to announce that the £50 National Trust voucher was won by Darcey, aged 6. Thank you to everyone who visited the elves and who took part in the quiz.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas.

November 11th

Remembrance Sunday

At 11am on Thursday 11th November, worksites across the development fell silent to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms.

The Skanska team, joined by Trade Contractors and project stakeholders, laid a wreath by the memorial at St Barbara’s Church to show our respect for the bravery and courage of those who fought for our country.

MacMillan Bake Sale

We will be hosting a bake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on the 24th September. The event will take place between 10am and 12pm at our office on Newfoundland Road, Deepcut, GU16 6SR.

Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity that’s very close to our hearts, and we would love it if you could join us and donate in exchange for some yummy cake.

Every penny we raise means Macmillan can be right there for more people living with cancer.

Mindenhurst Wild Week Review

What a great time we have had during Wild Week, getting closer to nature and to our amazing local wildlife. A big thank you to everyone who got involved in all the events and activities throughout the week. We started the week with a minibeast hunt lead by Surrey Wildlife Trust, where we discovered all sorts of wonderful bugs and creatures that live in the Central SANG.

They also lead a bat walk later in the week, where the group got to see and hear Pipistrelle and Soprano bats as they flew overhead catching insects.

We have also helped identify and count local butterflies, learnt more about our native trees, and we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the ‘wild art’ entries to our art competition.

Thank you to everyone who took part, and to Surrey Wildlife Trust for making the wildlife walks such a fascinating and fun experience.

Thursday 13th May, 2pm - 5pm

Sunflower Planting Event

Everyone is invited to drop by our sunflower planting event on Thursday 13th May, 2pm – 5pm.

In a change to the location previously advertised, this will now take place outside our new project office, formally the Premier Shop, on Newfoundland Road.

We will have everything you need to plant your own sunflower which you can take home or leave with us to add to our new office garden.

Why not bring your children, grandchildren, or encourage your neighbours along, and you can see whose plant grows the highest?

This event is taking place during Mental Health Awareness week. Their theme for 2021 is nature and they are aiming to inspire more people to connect with nature in new ways, noticing the impact that this connection can have for their mental health. If you want to find out more information please visit: mentalhealth.org.uk.
