As part of our wider programme of infrastructure upgrades, improvement works are due to take place at M3 Junction 3 and along the A322 northbound carriageway. These upgrades aim to ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety for all road users.

We understand that our proposals have generated interest and concern locally. The feedback we have received has been valuable and in response to the concerns raised, we delayed the original start date to allow for further discussions with councillors, Surrey County Council, National Highways and the local Member of Parliament. These conversations have helped us better understand the priorities of the community and have informed how the works will be delivered. Following this engagement, it has now been agreed by all parties, that construction at M3 Junction 3 will commence on Thursday 16 October 2025.

Whilst construction works are in progress we will be undertaking a detailed review of the suggestions put forward by residents for the M3 J3 improvements. These include the dedicated left turn lane marking and box junction marking. We will be working closely with Surrey County Council and National Highways to assess whether these proposals can be safely and effectively incorporated. Once this review is complete and actions agreed a further communication will be sent out. Our commitment is to ensure that the improvements deliver meaningful, long-term benefits for everyone living in the area.

To keep residents informed, updates will be published every two weeks on our website and we encourage you to check here regularly for the latest information.

🛠️ What’s Changing?

These upgrades will significantly improve local connectivity and ease congestion for residents and commuters. An illustration of the scheme is below and it includes the following improvement works:

    • Addition of a third northbound lane on the A322 approaching the M3 Junction 3 roundabout
    • Full resurfacing of the carriageway
    • Relocation of the Toucan crossing further south
    • Upgrading drainage systems
    • Improved pedestrian crossing points near South Farm Lane

🚧 Traffic Management

To carry out these works safely we will have the following traffic management in place:

  • Single lane closures on:
    • M3 slip road
    • A322 southbound
    • A322 northbound
  • Full overnight closures in January/February 2026 (more information to be sent out nearer the time)
  • Traffic management lifted over Christmas (mid-December to January)

We encourage residents to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the works.

If you live close to the carriageway, you may notice some temporary noise from flashing lights or reversing vehicles during night works. We’re really grateful for your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
